The Diploma of Māori & Information Management (DMIM) is the first year of the three year bachelor degree and consists of te reo Māori, iwi & hapū, rorohiko (which are compulsory components) and the specialist subject. The foundation of this tohu is mātauranga Māori which provides the students with another approach to Information Management in contemporary practice offering basic skills in libraries, museums, and archives as well as strengthening iwi & hapū.

The programme develops bilingual and bicultural managers of Māori information resources in Māori and non-Māori organisations.
